Zion’s Reading Report Back
Zion’s Reading Report Back
Image result for diary of a wimpy kid rodrick rules

The name of my library book is Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Rodrick Rules
It is a narrative
Its purpose is to show how Greg's brother Rodrick treats Greg
If I did have money I wouldn’t waste it on Rowley (his little brother)

The book is about how Greg’s life has been with his brother and his brother is a bully Greg has 2 brothers who are Rodrick and Manny They had to spend time together and they were nice to each other

I located information so I found out that Rodrick doesn’t like Greg because Rodrick wants to be spoiled

I inferred an idea so I worked out that Rowley is always lucky My clues were he gets to sit next to the girls and Greg is a loner

I evaluated so I think that a big brother should look after Greg If Greg is getting bullied not be a bully because that's what brothers do
Or If I was Greg I  will tell on my parents because so it won't carry on

I analyzed and synthesized so I think that the main idea/ message is that if your an older brother/sister you should look after your younger siblings

Term 3 e-asttle Writing

                           The Beginning of a Death

On the 31st of October,1974 the event named Halloween started, when

people dressed

up as demons, skeletons, and witches. But one girl named Bella who was the age of 15

Bella lived with her mum and her little brother. For Halloween, she just wore a cardigan

and a pair of jeans and she had no shoes on. All she wanted was lollies and her friends
 wanted some too.

From the corner of Bella’s eye, she saw a rusty gate which said Do Not Pass, but Bella

just ran in without knowing that her friends weren’t beside her. She walked past these

dark, elder trees that had unknown species. She was scared and so she ran towards a

beach and said “Can anyone hear me”   I’m scared” she whispered. The time was 4:00am

in the morning so she got some strips from a palm tree and made it as a blanket and made

a pillow made out of the sand.

Bella woke up inside a bottle! A man appeared dressed up as a wizard and said:

“You have 2 hours to live”.Suddenly sand raised up inch by inch and she couldn’t breathe

properly. She got by the waves on the sea. She got literally hit real hard banging her head

on the bottle and the sand was half way on her body. She felt like there was no oxygen

left and the sand was all she could see when she kept on looking down. The sand was up

to her chin and she just died cause she couldn’t breathe and the sand just reached her head

and she wasn’t able to be seen.

maths LS

Zion’s Maths Learning Story   Term 3
Maths.
The only place people will fit 18072 milk cartons into a small green box and nobody notices……
-Tawhiri

How we do maths at Corinna School?
We do maths as if we are struggling through stuff in the future, like math problems that sometimes include the bank and we use our group norms

The problem
Allister and Sam are refilling the fridge with milk cartons. They want to save time by transporting the milk boxes in a bigger container so they can carry more at once.

4.5cm 10cm 3cm

The first thing we did was find the volume of the milk carton the solving we did was: 3cmx10cm=30²cm so we knew that 30²cmx4.5cm=135³cm which meant 135³cm was the volume of the milk carton. Then we found the volume of the box by using a chart using multiplication

Then we found the volume of the box by using a chart using multiplication
Then we would divide using

How I work in a group for maths:
Sharing our ideas
Asking questions
Listening to others ideas
Helping others ‘stay on the waka’
Include others
Take a risk
Supporting like saying “Do you get it”
Persevering when you're ‘in the pit’.
Asking for help.
Explaining confidently and clearly (Not  being shy)
Working with people we don’t usually work with.
Repeating
Make connections
Friendly arguing
Sharing strategies
Being responsible for your learning eg saying when you don’t get it.

Our group was good at using different strategies to solve the problem because we used heaps of different strategies to get the answer.
We got better at sharing our ideas because we knew that if we were shy people won’t catch our gold.
We felt confident about our report back because we had a lot of smarts
We found it hard to stay focused and not laughing because we were telling some funny jokes
We need to work on getting our facts right because we said something like 90x90=900
The key competency we used well was participating and contributing because once we got into the rhythm we were sharing ideas a lot.
The key competency needs to work on is managing self because once we solved we started mucking around.
Tawh’s Feedback
Zion is good at making heaps of different ideas because he has a creative brain
Zion needs to work on sharing his ideas because it's not that his group wasn’t listening to it's just that he wasn’t saying any of his smarts.

Zion's dance LS

Zion’s Dance Learning Story     Term 3

Dance is the definition of happiness by Zion

The dance we are doing is the Charleston and it is hard when you look at it and do it. But when you get it and know how to do it you get sassier. We are doing a school production. We are adding different types of moves which include the Cook Island looking move. We have a line of girls and boys.  We hold hands and go out in out in. We turn each other’s position and the same thing but turn the girl around and do American looking dance then Jillian and Kayla do a cartwheel and splits, it’s awesome.

How do we learn an unfamiliar dance?

Our success criteria

Practice

Take a risk

Encourage others

Copy others

Carry on the tradition of the dance

Persevere

Use ideas from videos/use tutorials

Break it down - step by step

Slow the moves down

Put the moves together

Add our own style

Support each other by saying “Keep it up!”  “You’re doing great!”

To be honest I was really good at adding my own styles like being sassy because I know how to do it

I got better at supporting each other because I keep on thinking of myself not others

I felt relieved because I know how to dance now

I need to work on slowing the moves down because I will know what will be coming next and get sassier

The key comp I am good at is participating and contributing  because I never complain

The key comp I need to work on is thinking because I can’t think of the moves coming next.

Tawh’s feedback:

I noticed Zion was good at enjoying himself when he is dancing because it seems like the sort of thing he would enjoy.

I noticed needs to work on looking to the front because otherwise, they can’t see your smile.
