Zions Swimming L.S

Zion’s Swimming Learning Story

Chlorine is my perfume
As I walked in the Cannons Creek Pools. The very first thing I could sense was the chlorine - which I  like. I could see a lot of people enjoying swimming but the people who didn’t swim was because they do not have their togs or they didn’t bring their notice back. The kids who didn't bring their togs or notice back had to sit on the side on the seats. They couldn't do anything it was so hot. They had to wait for 30 minutes in the boiling sun sitting on the sideline. When we went in the pool we had to sit on the side and try to think of 4 ways to hop in the pool. I did the classic “Just use the ladder”. We learnt swimming skills like treading water and freestyle. We had a challenge and the challenge was whoever gets out of the changing room last is a rotten egg  I won't name anyone but it was a funny time!

I am good at thinking fast whenever there is an emergency because I have been in a situation which was an emergency.

I got better at using swimming strokes that help me not drown because I might use backstroke even though I’m not very good at it.

It was hard for me to know how to keep other people safe in  a group because they might be far away and I might be too tired swimming to them.

I need to work on what I will do if I am in deep water or if I am drowning because I need to think of a swimming skill that will keep me on top of the water or something that will let me breath

The key comp I was good at was participating and contributing because I went to all the swimming lessons

The key comp I need to work on is thinking because I need to think of what swimming skills that will keep me on top of the water, like treading water.

Zion you were good at getting the stroke right and doing it right.
You need to work on getting under the water so that you can go faster.
