Zion’s Art Learning Story I love art!
How do I communicate important information and ideas about my identity using a surrealist style?
Surrealism is an art style that explores the world of dreams and what’s in our imagination. Surrealist art often shows familiar things in unexpected ways.
We were learning about surrealist art by looking at some surrealist art and then we tried to copy them
Success Criteria
Combine several pictures to make one
Combined real things with unrealistic things to tell a story about the person.
Put something about the person inside or near their portrait
Use unusual colours for the facial features
Create an optical illusion. It looks real but its not
Mix up things and blended them eg the features
Make things look like something they are not
Include lots of detail
Make look realistic
Make part of a person a thing that represents something important
Make the art is like a dream.
I am good at making parts of things that represent something important about me because I need to show something about my identity
I was good at putting things inside my face which represented me like when I put the patterns on my hay
I got better at making my art looks like something that it’s not because I even thought that it didn't look like the thing I imagined
It was hard for me to make it look realistic because it's not very good at art
My next steps are to make sure my art was as if it was a dream because people can imagine another picture of that
Tevin’s feedback
Zion was good at making things look realistic because of the eyes sort of look like his when he sees the reflection of the light
He needs to work on combining real things with unrealistic things to tell a story about him because I don't know how to describe his identity
