               Zion Journey Towards Life

Talofa lava. O lou igoa o Siona Tulima. Ou te 10 tausaga. Ou te fea i loa pe e te fea loa a’u.

So let me take it back to 2007 the 14th of July at the hospital of Lower Hutt. At 1:56 am a beautiful world was transformed as two strangers looked so happy with a really huge grin towards my face. But I just went “Haha to wahhh
When my grandmother came, she raced to me and a whole lot of happy tears came bursting out of her eyes.
Four years of spoiling me, my mum now has another baby which I was afraid of. Less spoiling of me and more to her (as if she was the famous one and I retired………….)

So I am Samoan as you can tell and also I am Tongan which I found out last week. I don’t think you’ll believe me but I am German from my great great grandfather’s wife. I wonder if she was a survivor when Adolf Hitler’s eruption happened. I think this is quite amazing because I never thought I would be part European and she would be such a popular Survivor.

I like acting as a really funny person and changing my tune. My inspirer is the one and only Tofiga from the Laughing Samoans. My other talent is netball. Yes, and I got a trophy for the most valuable player. Another talent is fading, making a failure of my grandpa's dream which was me to be like my mum as a champ.

Something else which is quite amazing is a true Manu Samoa legend
Seilala Mapusua is my mum's cousin which is basically my uncle. He has the same last name as my mum, and I want to follow in his footsteps as he said to me “Whatever dream you have, reach those steps you are dreaming of”

Problem:how do we communicate information in an interesting way

I was really good at using a hook to bring them in and to make them be interested
I got better at making my title interesting
It was hard for me to use adjectives
I need to work on creating beginning middle and an end

Feedback:
You are a very clever writer Zion! You are really brave about choosing to try and share your ideas in interesting ways. Make sure to check that each of your sentences makes sense for your reader. You have organized your ideas into paragraphs really well.
You have a great beginning and ending. You have also shared your ideas like you are chatting with your reader.

My Reading Learning Story

Zion’s Reading Learning Story

Related imageYou only have one life make the most of your life just READING!

How do we make meaning from the texts we read using a range of reading stratergies Name of book:The Seven Stars SKYFIRE
Author:Michael Adams
Type:Narrative

I am good at locating information because everytime I have to share I am on to it and also I use my prior knowledge to know where to look for ideas.

I locate ideas so people can too in the future I located information so I
found out that a girl was gonna die by a man with a gun and she was scared

I inferred so I worked out the girl was terrified because they were describing how she was feeling
(the text) her heart thumped, mouth dry, throat tight she could barely breathe
The person who will probably shoot her wants to get revenge because she won the prize of the man’s dream

I evaluated so I don’t think you shouldn't get revenge using actions and abuse you should just keep it to yourself. The reason for this revenge is because he is jealous of her winning his dream award

My Math's learning story

Zion’s Learning Story

Your journey towards life will include MATH!

At Porirua College, there are 220 boys.  132 boys choose to wear a lavalava. E.J says that this percentage is because Porirua College students have a strong Samoan identity.

Do you agree that the percentage E.J worked out is enough to show that Porirua College has a strong Samoan identity

What the problem is about:

132 kids at Porirua College want to wear ie lavalavas and the rest want to wear shorts and there is 220 in the total of people. The kids who want to wear lavalavas are Samoan and we have to find out if E.J is right or wrong about the percentage.

How we solved the problem:

10% is 22    20% is 44    30% Is 66     40% Is 88    50% Is 110    60% is 132    70% is 154    80% is 176

90%  Is 198   100% is 220

How I learn in a group: I am good at sharing confidently and clearly in my group and so other groups hear our ideas (and not being shy)

I am good at the beginning to be a mathematical person  because I love taking risks during every learning I do

I am getting better at asking questions because I was shy about having questions that didn’t  even make sense but now I’m not scared of speaking up

I find it hard to describe our learning and to make sense because I am over excited at some stages during maths so I don’t what to say so I say things that don't make sense

A key competency I use really well is relating to others because when they are going through different difficulties like when they are in the pit I would try and help them

A key competency I need to work on is participating and contributing cause I help people when they are stuck in the pit

  • My next steps are to share my ideas secretly because my ideas may be right.
  • Our problem is about kids from Porirua college arguing about wearing either ie lavalava's and EJ is doing a diagram to solve it we used did a chart that showed us percentages of all the kids.
  • we have been learning different strategies for different equations
